A playlist length calculator answers two questions at once: how long is this playlist, and will it fit on a CD? Streaming apps round the total and stop there. This one gives the exact time, the songs on each disc, and a text version of the list.
How the playlist length calculator works
Each line is read on its own. List numbers like “1.” or “07” are ignored, and a length at the end of a line, such as 3:45 or (3:45), is used exactly as typed. Lines without a length are looked up in Deezer’s public music catalog, up to 100 at a time. Each result shows the track it matched, so you can see when it picked the wrong version and type the right length over it.
The disc plan keeps your order. It adds songs to Disc 1 until the next one would take it past 79 minutes, counting the 2-second gap most burning software puts before each track, then starts Disc 2. We keep a minute spare because car players handle a disc filled to the very edge less gracefully. How to get a song list out of Spotify or Apple Music
Lots of people go looking for a way to export a Spotify playlist. The honest answer is that Spotify doesn’t offer a text export. These are the routes that work:
- 01SpotifyThe desktop app shows the total time at the top of a playlist. Selecting all the songs and copying them gives song links, which this calculator can’t read, so type the names in, or copy them from the screen a few at a time.
- 02Apple Music or iTunesIn the Music app on a Mac, or iTunes on Windows, open the playlist and choose File, then Library, then Export Playlist. Open the text file it saves, copy everything, and paste it here; the calculator reads the Name, Artist and Time columns.
- 03A CSV file from another toolIf you already have a playlist saved as a CSV file, our playlist converter reads it and lets you check every song.

When it fits, and when it doesn't
One disc? Copy the tracklist and paste it into our CD case template to print a jewel case insert and tray card with every song numbered. Two or more? Cut the songs that are only there to fill time, swap in radio edits, or treat it as a two-disc set with a natural break in the middle.

How do I see how long my Spotify playlist is?
Spotify shows the number of songs and the total running time at the top of a playlist. For an exact figure, a per-song list, or a disc-by-disc split, paste the song names into this playlist length calculator.
Can you export a Spotify playlist to text?
Spotify has no built-in export to a text file, and copying songs from the desktop app gives you song links rather than names. Type or paste the song names into the calculator and it gives you a clean numbered tracklist to copy or download as a .txt file.
Will my playlist fit on a CD?
A standard CD-R holds 80 minutes of audio. If the calculator shows one disc in the plan, it fits; it fills each disc to 79 minutes at most, counting the 2-second gap between tracks.
How many songs fit on an 80-minute CD?
About 18 to 22 songs of average length, 3½ to 4 minutes each. Short songs fit 25 or more; long ones bring it closer to 15.
Why is a song's length different from what my app shows?
The calculator looks songs up in Deezer's public catalog, which may list a different version, such as a remaster, live take or album cut. Type the length from your app over the one shown and the totals update.
Is my song list saved anywhere?
No. Lines without a length are sent to our server only to search Deezer's catalog, and the results come straight back to your browser. Nothing is stored and no account is needed.
